Hunton Flooding
A solution is in the pipework
Several residents have contacted me regarding the continued flooding at the junction of Moor Lane and Church Bank. After visiting myself last week and finding it as uncomfortable for cyclists as it was for drivers, I contacted Highways Officers regarding this issue, who have reported as follows;
Drainage investigation in the field has taken place and discussions with the landowner have been had over the months. Unfortunately we have not been able to locate exactly what was happening with the surface / ditch water except for the fact that it enters the field and appears to outfall into the next field heading towards Arrathorne. Interestingly the landowner recently carried out some excavation work within his field and he has thankfully uncovered what appears to be the problem area of damaged pipework and I am hopefully we will be in a position to shortly resolve the carriageway flooding.
From what I am told I am hopefully that the installation of a catchpit chamber a couple of metres into the field along with some piecing in of pipework to and from the chamber to the existing may well be all that is now needed.
Negotiations are currently ongoing, and I will come back with updates as soon as I receive them.
