In a week’s time, the Old Horn Community Group will hold their second public meeting at 6.30pm in Harmby Village Hall.
Following the first meeting the group has made significant progress. First the minimum funding target was reached, which established that there was both sufficient funding and public interest to make buying the pub worth pursuing.
In late October the group’s application to register the pub as an Asset of Community Value was granted. This means the pub can’t be sold without the group’s knowledge and requires the owners to inform the group should they receive any other plausible offers.
Finally the group has been registered with the Financial Conduct Authority as a community benefit society, which should make it easier to buy and run the pub.
Tom said; ‘The group have a fantastic chance to take on the rights and responsibilities of looking after their pub. They have a detailed plan of action to do it and I encourage everyone who lives in Harmby and Spennithorne, or who is interested in the future of the pub, to come and listen.’
The public meeting is set for Wednesday 9th November at 18.30pm. Updates can be found on the Old Horn Community Facebook page and the group’s website will be going live very soon with relevant information, business plan and share offers.
